Cairo in 2 Days: Pyramids, Sphinx & Grand Egyptian Museum
Two action-packed days hitting Cairo's absolute icons — the Great Pyramids of Giza, the enigmatic Sphinx, and King Tutankhamun's treasures at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
About This Journey
Cairo compresses more than four thousand years of civilization into a navigable urban landscape, where ancient monuments, medieval fortresses, and living market culture exist within short distances of one another. This two-day private tour moves through that landscape with structure and purpose — covering the Giza Plateau, Memphis, and Saqqara on Day 1, then transitioning to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the Citadel, and Khan el-Khalili on Day 2 before a direct airport transfer.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Hotel or Airport Pickup
Your private vehicle collects you from Cairo Airport or your hotel at the agreed time. The drive to Giza takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes and serves as a natural introduction to the day's historical context.
The Giza Pyramid Complex Duration
The Giza Plateau contains the three principal pyramid complexes of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, along with the Great Sphinx and its associated Valley Temple. Your Egyptologist guide examines the site as a theological and political statement — explaining construction methodology, cardinal alignments, and the religious systems that drove one of history's most ambitious building programs.
Lunch
A midday break at a well-regarded local restaurant in the Giza area, with a set meal of traditional Egyptian dishes.
Memphis (Mit Rahina) Duration
Memphis was Egypt's first capital, established around 3100 BCE, and its open-air museum preserves monumental statuary, including the colossal recumbent figure of Ramesses II. Your guide reconstructs the city's role as the seat of the god Ptah and the administrative heart of the unified Egyptian state.
Saqqara Necropolis Duration
Saqqara is Egypt's oldest royal necropolis and the site of the Step Pyramid of Djoser — the world's first large-scale cut-stone structure, designed by Imhotep around 2650 BCE. The site also contains elaborately decorated Old Kingdom mastaba tombs whose painted walls depict daily life, ritual, and agricultural practice in extraordinary detail.
Return to Hotel Your private vehicle returns you to your Cairo hotel at the close of the afternoon, with the guide confirming Day 2 logistics.
