Day-by-Day Itinerary
Your journey begins in the morning with a pickup from your hotel in Cairo by our representative. Traveling in an air-conditioned private vehicle, you depart the capital and drive southwest toward the fertile basin of Fayoum Oasis. The drive takes approximately two hours, gradually transitioning from the busy urban environment of Cairo to agricultural fields, palm groves, and desert scenery surrounding the oasis.
Lake Qarun
Your first stop is the vast Lake Qarun, one of Egypt’s oldest natural lakes and a remnant of the ancient Lake Moeris that once dominated the region. Surrounded by desert hills and bird habitats, the lake offers scenic views and insight into the historical irrigation systems that once sustained the area. It remains an important ecological site and an enduring symbol of Fayoum’s long connection to water and agriculture.
Tunis Village
Continue to Tunis Village, a charming artisan community overlooking Lake Qarun. The village is known for its pottery workshops and traditional houses built with local materials. Visitors can explore the small studios and learn about the revival of pottery craftsmanship that has become a defining cultural feature of the area.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant during the tour.
Wadi El Rayan Waterfalls
In the afternoon, drive toward the protected landscapes of Wadi El Rayan Protected Area. This desert reserve contains two large lakes connected by Egypt’s only natural waterfalls. The surrounding dunes, rocky escarpments, and quiet desert atmosphere create a striking contrast to the cultivated farmland of the oasis.
At the end of the day, you are transferred by private vehicle to your lodge or desert camp in Fayoum, where you can relax after the day’s exploration.
